The Six of Wands card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot

On the card

A rider crowned with laurel carries a wreathed wand through a crowd of walkers holding wands of their own.

Upright

  • Recognition
  • Success
  • Confidence

Traditionally the card of being seen for what was done. It invites you to consider what recognition would actually mean to you here, and from whom.

Reversed

  • Unseen
  • Hollow win
  • Doubt

Read reversed, the acknowledgement misses — work that went unremarked, or applause that landed and changed nothing.

About this deck

The artwork is the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, drawn by Pamela Colman Smith to Arthur Edward Waite's direction and first published in 1909. It has passed into the public domain, which is why it can be shown here in full — but it is her work, and the reason this deck became the one nearly every other deck answers to.
